The Jersey Shore
Today was a lot of fun. My friend Rosabelle and I try to get together to go to the beach each summer. Today's forecast was for 91 degrees. At the shore it was a little overcast with a pleasant breeze - a perfect beach day! The water temp was 71 and a little rough but not bad. However, there were a few too many jelly fish for us to want to stay in the water too long. We enjoyed watching some of the women's lifeguards contests being held today. I should've taken a few pictures of it. By the time we got home I felt so tired - the salt air tires you out!

The First Taste
The long awaited day has arrived. Our first Ramapo was ripe on the vine. I picked it and even measured it. Circumference was 11 and 1/4 inches. Bill took a picture of this momentous occasion, I sliced it and served it with garden fresh basil, string cheese and olive oil. Bill ate it and it was wonderful!!! I had some too!

Oh No!
Yesterday morning a I underwent an apicoectomy. The oral surgeon went through my gum and removed my root tip along with infected tissue. He then filled it to seal the end of the root. Cost $770. Time about 20 minutes. This all occured because a tooth which already had root canal and crown became infected and I had an abscess. Actually, I had 2 abscesses next to each other which neither my detist nor oral surgeon had seen before. The oral surgeon hopes the tooth will be saved. He said it looked good but he hoped the double abscess wasn't going to bring any further complications. I hope so too. I didn't feel any pain during the procedure because of novocaine. Pain later was under controll with ibuprofen. I'm on antibiotic for a week and go back to have it checked in three weeks.

In the Pool
Sunday was a hot and sunny day to celebrate Teddy's 39th birthday. We had everyone here except for Pete and Roxana and boys. We've noticed through out the years that the sun was always shining on Ted's birthday, although I should clarify that Ted's birthday is on the 17th. And yes, the sun shone. Since we have a pool, hot and sunny is great. Timmy and Bridget both jump into the pool and swim!
Ted had no problem blowing out his candles with a little help.
Now that I'm a certified Master Composter and must spread the word about composting, we got Ted started with his very own Earth Machine. It would've been a challenge to wrap it so we made Teddy stoop down and close his eyes and we put the Earth Machine over him. Suprise!!!

Fishing and ...
Bill and I had a great time Saturday morning out on the water with our friends Jim and Alice. This site is only about 15 minutes from home but out here all you see is water, reeds, herons and other birds and a few other kayakers. Jim had his fishing line set up behind him and we are sure he really had a monster fish. Sadly it got away and all he was left with was seaweed.

Waiting for Ramapo
It may be a while before we get to taste our Ramapos but they are growing. I measured and my largest tomatoes are 9 inches in circumfrence.
Early Girl
On July 6th we ate the first tomato from our garden. It was an Early Girl tomato about the size of a golf ball. We put it on our sandwiches and frankly I couldn't taste it that well. I should've put it im my salad! I didn't bother taking a photo of that tomato but this beauty is the size of a tennis ball and tonight we shall have it for supper on our salad!

Back to the Movies
Tuesday evening we got back to the movies to see WALL E. Walle is a robot who works collecting trash on uninhabitable earth and falls in love with a robot from outer-space. It's a great family film, very imaginative and humorous. It has very high ratings but I was wishing it would end. It seemed like a very long movie but after checking I saw it was normal length. Bill thought it was very well done but he didn't really care for it. He's ready for a movie with real people.
