Well, today I had my preventive annual physical which our insurance company now requires. At my last physical about two years ago I was told it was time for a colonoscopy. I never followed up on it and I knew I'd hear about it today. I did. I heard that people who die from colon cancer die from ignorance. 36,000 people a year die in the U.S. each year from colon cancer. There are no symptoms. So, very reluctantly I'll do it. Shall I keep you posted?
They took a blood sample at the office but I have my other assignments now - a mammogram, x-ray of shoulder which was diagnosed as arthritis, and chest x-ray because he doesn't have one. Oh, and after he gets my blood results I can come back and we can talk about them. Sigh

Look at it this way, the preventative stuff is always better than the stuff you are out to prevent!
Considering I lost my grandfather to colon cancer, I would say that it is better to just get it done and be sure.
Sure, keep me informed. I love hearing about medical news that don't include me!
Good luck, Kidddo.

Don"t be afraid of your colonoscopy, it is only the preparation for it that's hard. The rest is easy. Trust me I have had a few. Good luck.
Why is it that when the doctor decides that I need some test, it's a good idea and I should rush right out to do it, but when you are the subject of the doctor's inquisition, it is a different story altogether? I am proud of you that you did rush right out and get your x-rays. Just make sure to have an anesthesiologist for the colonoscopy to put you out, unlike the first one I had where I was awake. No, no. Do not do that.

Thank you for all the encouraging words. I made The Call and have an appointment to see Dr. Robinson on May 1st at 3 pm. No turning back!
I am sure you will do fine...I go every 3 years and yes, the prep is the most difficult..but all doctors' offices do preps differently...maybe yours won't be that bad. And yes, make sure they give you an anesthesiologist to put you out for that 20 minutes.
